Our Aboriginal Education Committees

Our school has two Aboriginal Education Committees, which meet once a month. 

  1. Aboriginal Education Committee- General

The committee assists in school planning in relation to Aboriginal education, the implementation of the school’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Actions document and organising relevant days of celebration such as NAIDOC Week, Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week. 

There are several staff on our AEC General Committee. They are: 

  • Sarah Davis- Principal

  • Kylie Parsons- Aboriginal Education Officer 

  • Kerry Boyenga- Aboriginal Language Teacher 

  • Sarah Aedy- Assistant Principal Curriculum & Instruction

  • Jane Coppin- Assistant Principal Learning & Support

  • Amanda Herring- Support Class Teacher 

  • Helene Stokes- Early Stage 1 Teacher 

  • Emma Canham- Library Teacher

  • Joanne Pulley- Assistant Principal Stage 3 

  • Stephanie Palmer- Assistant Principal Stage 2 

 

Our AEC General meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 3.15pm in the staffroom. 

Parents and community members are encouraged to attend.

Alternatively, parents and community members can attend our Yarn-Up Afternoon Teas held every term in our Kitchen Garden area to hear about what our school is doing in relation to Aboriginal education and to provide input. 

 

  1. Aboriginal Education Committee- Curriculum 

This committee focuses on supporting staff in embedding Aboriginal perspective in our school’s curriculum, so Aboriginal students can see their culture represented within class lessons and increases knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal histories and culture. 

This committee meets on the second Wednesday of every month.
