Aboriginal Education

Our Commitment to Aboriginal Education

At our school, we are proud to highlight our commitment to enhancing the educational outcomes of our Aboriginal students through two key documents that serve as guiding frameworks. These documents reflect our dedication to fostering an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment.

Firstly, we are focused on empowering our Aboriginal students by implementing tailored strategies that cater to their educational needs. Our initiatives are designed to support their learning journeys, ensuring they have access to resources and opportunities that promote academic success. By celebrating their strengths and nurturing their talents, we aim to create a pathway for all Aboriginal students to thrive.

Secondly, we recognise the vital role our staff plays in this journey. Our documents outline professional development programs that enhance the cultural capacity of our educators. By equipping our staff with knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history and culture, we are fostering an environment where all students can engage meaningfully with this important aspect of our national identity. Our commitment to continuous learning ensures that we are all equipped to support and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our Aboriginal community.

We are equally dedicated to ensuring that all our students receive a well-rounded education that includes Aboriginal history, culture and language. Through curriculum integration and engaging learning experiences, we strive to instill a sense of respect and appreciation for Aboriginal perspectives among all our students. This holistic approach not only enriches our school community but also helps build connections between students from diverse backgrounds.

Together, these two documents reflect our school’s strength-based approach to education, where every student’s potential is recognised and valued. We are committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment that empowers our Aboriginal students and enriches the educational experience for everyone.

The two key documents are:

  1. MPS Strategic Improvement Plan (SIP)

  2. MPS SIP Aboriginal Education Actions- SIP supporting document that outlines specific Aboriginal action to meet SIP targets.

The NSW Department of Education also has a range of policies and key documents supporting the improved educational outcomes of Aboriginal students in NSW public schools.

These include: NSW Department of Education’s Aboriginal Education Policy; Partnership Agreement with NSW AECG Inc (NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Incorporated); National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy; Closing the Gap Strategy; 10 Year Plan - Footprints to the Future; and Strong Strides Together.
